Refilling Canon IPH cartridges is new as of late 2011. These Canons are IPH (integrated print heads) which means that the print cartridge electronics are integrated into the print head itself. These cartridges are the same general design as HP 56, 75, 60, 901, etc.
Examples of Canon IPH Cartridges:
- Six cartridges in the 30-51 family – 30, 31, 40, 41, 50, 51
- Four cartridges in the 210-211 family – 210, 210XL, 211, 211XL
- All ten cartridges have a similar form/shape, with the 30-51 set having a gray lid and slightly taller in height
Difference in the refill process
In general, the refill process is the same as other IPH cartridges but there are a few differences you should know about.
- Drill the black hole location is separate, not combined with yellow
- Fill is the same as for Drill
- Post-Fill Test use wipe/stamp test until you receive a new test adapter (3/2011)
